On the 4th of February 2024, the Sri Lankan Australian Friendship Association (SLAFA) had the honor of celebrating Sri Lanka’s Independence Day in a uniquely creative manner through our art exhibition. Held under the inspiring theme “Independence Day Celebration,” the event was a vibrant showcase of talent, expression, and unity, encapsulating the essence of freedom and cultural pride.
The exhibition was open to artists of all ages, inviting them to share their interpretations and feelings about independence through various forms of art, including drawings, paintings, and sculptures.
Prizes were awarded across different age categories, acknowledging the talent and effort of the participants. The joy and pride on the faces of our winners were a highlight of the event. This underscored the value of recognition in nurturing and encouraging artistic expression.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this event’s success. From the artists who shared their work and the attendees who brought their curiosity and enthusiasm, to the volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. In addition, the SLAFA committee members who facilitated the event. Special thanks also extend to the International Buddhist Temple.
